INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BENEFICIAL MICROBES (ICOBM-2021)

On June 1-6, the International Conference on Beneficial Microbes (ICOBM-2021) was held at the Don State Technical University, together with Rutgers State University of New Jersey (USA) in full-time and distance formats. ICOBM-2021 was held within the framework of the Megagrant of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia No. 075-15-2019-1880.

The use of probiotic microorganisms is developing at an active pace. Today, preparations containing probiotics have found application in agriculture, medicine, as well as in the food industry. Initiatives from various fields of research are necessary for the synergetic disclosure of the huge potential of microorganisms “working” for human and animal health.

ICOBM has been held since 2014. Thailand and Malaysia have already become its venues, and the participants represented more than 25 countries. This year ICOBM-2021 was held at DSTU and attracted even more representatives of the scientific and educational communities, industrial partners from 87 countries, such as: Malaysia, USA, India, Netherlands, Norway, Japan, Australia, South Korea, France, Brazil, Taiwan, Georgia, Armenia, Uzbekistan and others. The total number of participants exceeded 400 people from 87 countries.

The main directions of ICOBM-2021 were:

Human Probiotics
Animal Probiotics
Probiotic biotechnology
Sections of young scientists were provided in each direction.

The conference was attended by: Besarion Meskhi – Corresponding Member of the RAO, Rector of DSTU, Irina Donnik – Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Yuri Ivanov – Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member of RAS, Min-Tze Liong – Professor of the University of Malaysia, Mikhail Chikindas – Professor of Rutgers State University of New Jersey, Head of the Research Laboratory “Center for Agrobiotechnology” of DSTU, Irina Ryabchik – Deputy General Director of LLC “Lallemand Yeast”, Alexander Suvorov — Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Department of Molecular Microbiology of the Institute of Experimental Medicine St. Petersburg, Vyacheslav Ilyin – Head of the Department of Sanitary and hygienic human safety in Artificial Habitat of the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Georgy Laptev – Director of Biotrof LLC and others.

Within the framework of ICOBM-2021, a competition for the best reports was held, the winners of which were young scientists from different countries:

Revaz Lapachi – Agrarian University of Georgia (Georgia).
Within the framework of this Conference, more than 10 articles will be published in journals indexed by Scopus and/or Web of Science bibliographic databases.
